In September 2015, I was fortunate enough to spend a month in Tokyo, including 4 days in Kyoto. It’s safe to say that the culture, food and people left a mark. Within a week of returning to London, I had begun to seek out places to make me feel that little bit closer to the wonderful country I’d left behind.

This blog will share with you my discoveries, from heart-warming ramen to tranquil Japanese gardens, and the search for Nishin soba. For me, this dish of buckwheat noodles and grilled herring in a hot broth, was a culinary highlight of Kyoto (but more on that later).
